Green light to redevelopment of former printworks site in AberdeenFull planning permission for the redevelopment of the site of the former Scottaspress printworks on Maberly Street was granted last month following previous rejections.The property will not only create affordable housing in a prime location but also provide jobs in the Aberdeen area throughout the development.Glen Smith, head of acquisitions at Cater Group, said: “After a very long wait, we are delighted to finally receive full planning permission on our Maberly Street development. This project will see new affordable housing built in the city centre.“When we bought the site several years ago, we were excited by the opportunity to breathe life back into this dis-used building. We are looking forward to working with Hillcrest on our first development in Aberdeen.”In addition to the Maberly Street project, planning permission has been secured to convert 181 Union Street to 15 flats. Next door to this project, Cater Group will be converting 173 Union Street to 17 flats.Mr Smith said: “It is great to be a part of what I believe can be an exciting time for the city centre, we are proud that our projects will help bring much needed footfall back into the area.”
