Halsnead Garden Village plans set to move forward
Detailed plans for a residential scheme of more than 200 homes on a site which forms part of Halsnead Garden Village in Knowsley could soon secure approval.Land north of the M62 motorway, off Windy Arbor Road, (Halsnead), Whiston, has been earmarked for the scheme by Bloor Homes.Reserved matters approval is sought pursuant to planning permission secured for the erection of 208 dwellings and associated works. Approval is sought for matters of appearance, landscaping, layout and scale.Proposals include 104 three-bedroom homes and the same number of four-bed houses. These will be 2 and 2.5 storeys in height.The first phase of the Bloor Homes development, which was approved and is currently under construction, lies to the south of the 17-acre application site.Halsnead has national significance as one of the first 14 sites in England awarded Garden Village Status by the Government in 2017.It is a strategic housing and employment development, which will bring forward approximately 1,600 homes and at least 55 acres of employment land. This is together with new education and health provision, 81 acres of strategic greenspace and a new country park.Planning officers have made a recommendation in a report for Knowsley planners to grant reserved matters consent subject to conditions.
