Health services in Cardiff – Framework Lead
The current contract for Health services in Cardiff is projected to end on 9/1/2018 and may be available for re-tender.The current contract for Health services in Cardiff included the provision of a Home Delivery Service for patients with primary immunodeficiency. The Clinical Immunology Service for Wales (The Service) is hosted by Cardiff and Vale University Health Board which is funded by Welsh Health Specialist Services Committee (WHSSC).The current case-load for immunology is 380 Primary Immunodeficient patients with approximately 50% of the cohort receiving immunoglobulin therapy at any point in time. Of these, 91 patients are currently on home care treatment; either intravenous or subcutaneous.Patients live throughout Wales, with home care deliveries in South, Mid and West Wales being organised by The Service based at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. It should be noted that North Wales patients are currently treated at hospitals in England and their home care products are arranged from there. It is proposed that all patients registered with Welsh GP’s and living in Wales will have their home care deliveries arranged via The Service which is likely to be implemented during the life of this contract. This will increase the number of patients by approximately 10-20 per annum.
