Henry Boot secures contract for latest Glass Works phase
Henry Boot Construction has been awarded the contract for the second phase of the Glass Works development scheme in Barnsley.The company has signed a contract with Barnsley Council for the construction work.The Glass Works Phase 2 is the second stage of a £180m regeneration project which began in March 2016. Phase 1, also completed by Henry Boot Construction, included the creation of the new Library @ the Lightbox and the transformation of Barnsley Markets to establish a new home for the town’s market traders.Phase 2 of the project is set to include 100,000 sq ft of new retail space for a variety of shops and more than 25,000 sq ft of cafés & restaurants that will frame a new landscaped Public Square and create a new shopping route.Space for two key leisure anchors – Cineworld and Superbowl UK – and more than 90,000 sq ft of leisure facilities will also be developed.
