Historic hall bought by adventure holiday provider
A grade II-listed mansion house in North Yorkshire, which was built in the 1600s and last used as a police headquarters, has been acquired by an adventure holiday provider.PGL Travel, which is headquartered in Herefordshire, has bought Newby Wiske Hall from North Yorkshire Police and had earmarked it for its latest activity centre.The business plans to refurbish and develop the house to create brand new ensuite accommodation for guests who will be able to enjoy the use of classrooms, a sports hall, teacher lounges and a shop.The hall, which was originally built in 1684, is set in 35 acres of grounds, which includes a lake for watersports.Other activities planned for the location include zip wires, giant swings and challenge courses.The hall is located in the North Yorkshire countryside between the North Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors National Parks. Newby Wiske Hall will welcome its first guests from spring 2018.
