Holiday park plans set for approval

Plans for the relocation of accommodation to address the threat of coastal erosion at an East Yorkshire holiday park are set to get the go-ahead when it goes before councillors later this week (28 March 2019).Bourne Leisure, supported by planning consultancy Lichfields, submitted an application to East Riding of Yorkshire Council last year for development at Far Grange and The Lakes at Far Grange Holiday Park.The park currently comprises 847 static caravan pitches, 18-hole golf course, bars, tennis court, bowling green, spa and fishing lake.The land covered by the application makes up the ‘pitch and putt’ area of the golf course.Planning permission is sought for the relocation and installation of 128 caravan pitches on the site. Parking, new access roads and infrastructure works are also included.The scheme forms part of a ‘roll-back’ project to address the coastal erosion compromising the short-medium viability of existing caravan pitches on the eastern side of the park.The accommodation will be developed in phases as required due to the coastal erosion.The scheme will go before the council’s planning committee on 28 March. A planning officer’s report prepared for the meeting recommends planning approval is granted following the end of the consultation period.The recommendation has been made despite 45 objections, and a 100-signature petition, with the loss of the pitch and putt facility the main issue.Bourne Leisure operates more than 50 holiday sites in the UK through its subsidiaries Butlins, Warner and Haven.
