Plans for up to 170 new homes to be constructed on a former university campus are set to be considered again by councillors next week. The University of Northampton is behind the proposals to knock down and convert buildings at its old Avenue Campus to provide up to 112 flats and extend the Maidwell Building to provide 58 homes.Avenue Campus comprised the university’s centre for art, design, technology, architecture and the performing arts and also contained some student accommodation.Northampton Borough Council’s planning committee is set to meet virtually on Tuesday 24 November to vote on the scheme.Planning officers have recommended that councillors vote it through. It comes after councillors voted to approve the scheme on Tuesday 24 October but a late objection letter raising concerns regarding the demolition of the Maidwell Building was received that was not reported to the committee as it omitted the application reference and the site address.
