Hotel redevelopment set for green light
Plans to demolish a Bournemouth hotel and construct a new 100-bedroom venue and residential units are set to get the go-ahead from councillors next week (15 May 2017).Developer Inland Homes, via agent Metropolis Planning & Design, lodged plans last year to redevelop the Wessex Hotel on West Cliff Road.Under the proposals, the exiting hotel will be demolished and replaced by three six-storey buildings.These would feature a new 100-bedroom hotel together with 88 residential units in a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments. A total of 188 car parking spaces would also be provided.The original section of the Wessex Hotel dates back to the Victorian era with further additions made over the years.The building currently comprises 109 bedrooms together with a health spa, function rooms including a ballroom, and restaurant facilities.
