Housebuilder hails job creation of Cambridgeshire scheme
Barratt Homes Eastern Counties has said its new development in Cambridgeshire will underpin approximately 820 jobs for local people. The developer is set to bring forward a total of 410 homes to its upcoming Franklin Gardens development in Cambridge, an extension to the existing Darwin Green community. The housebuilder said it predominately employs local sub-contractors and tradesmen, including apprentices, so local businesses and people will benefit directly from the jobs.Simon Wood, managing director at Barratt Homes Eastern Counties, said: “Our Franklin Gardens development in Cambridge will provide much needed housing in the area. This is also great news for the local economy with the jobs that will be underpinned whilst we’re building the new homes.”We aim to support local sub-contractors and tradesmen where possible to ensure the areas in which we build benefit directly from our developments.”Franklin Gardens is located close to the A14, M11 and Cambridge train station, while Cambridge University, Regional College, the Science Park and Addenbrooke’s Hospital are all nearby. There are also schools, shops, sports and healthcare facilities and a new supermarket in the immediate locality.
