Housebuilder submits plans for 200-home East Yorkshire scheme
A national housebuilder has lodged plans for a development of almost 200 homes on a site in East Yorkshire.Persimmon Homes has submitted a full planning application to East Riding of Yorkshire Council for development on land north of Holme Road in Market Weighton.Planning permission is sought for the demolition of the existing pig farm on the site and the construction of 196 homes, together with associated open space, landscaping, engineering works and infrastructure. The proposed housing comprises 12 apartments, four bungalows, 56 semi-detached properties, 67 terraced houses, and 57 detached homes. A mix of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom properties is proposed.Nineteen homes (10.7 per cent) would be affordable housing. It has been estimated that construction of the development will support the creation of 523 jobs (294 of these being direct) over six years.A planning statement submitted as part of the application said the proposed development would “contribute significantly to the economic and social objectives of sustainable development whilst providing a moderate contribution to environmental objectives”.The project team includes DPP, S&SA, Brooks Ecological, Quants Environmental, Golby and Luck, Environmental Noise Solutions, OEC Consulting Engineers, Lithos Consulting, Maparch, Redmore Environmental, Natural England, Bryan G Hall, JSP Sustainability, Latitude Surveys and Savills. The 14.9-acre plot forms part of a wider site allocated for housing, known as MW-B, in the East Riding Local Plan.Last month (July 2023), plans from Richborough Estates for a mixed-use development of housing and employment space on a site adjacent to the new application were approved by the council’s planning committee.
