Housing development to regenerate Rotherham site
A new housing development is set to support the regeneration of a vacant site in Rotherham following the granting of planning permission.Planning and development consultancy Lichfields secured consent from Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council for the 237-home development on a brownfield site in Thrybergh.The development will comprise 157 affordable homes and 80 private rented sector properties. These will be a mixture of flats, bungalows, detached and semi-detached houses.The development is being bought forward by Engie Regeneration with its partners Great Places Housing Group and Sanctuary Homes. It is being funded by Homes England.The site is owned by Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council and is allocated for housing within its Local Plan. It has been vacant since the previous post-war housing was demolished in 2008.The 6.93-acre site comprises two parcels of land north and south of Oldgate Lane. It will include about 120,000 sq ft of public open space, comprising seven separate grassed areas, and provide 364 car parking spaces.
