An extensive hybrid planning application for the regeneration of a village housing estate in Teesside has been given the go-ahead.Developed by Beyond Housing, the plans involve the refurbishment of 289 homes, which includes the demolition of 19 of them, on the Church Lane North housing estate in Eston. Also included with the plans is an outline application for the proposed development of 30 replacement properties. The refurbishment to the existing dwellings includes the formation of in curtilage parking, secure rear gardens, reorientation of homes and the formation of a new road, which is designed to tackle the estate’s existing problem with anti-social behaviour. The 30 new homes proposed by Beyond are all allocated for affordable housing, with 25 of them for rent and five offered as shared ownership.Located within the residential area of Ormseby, a suburb of Middlesbrough, the Church Lane North housing estate was built in 1970 on agricultural land and sits within a boundary of approximately 21 acres. The Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council has approved the development, subject to conditions.
