Housing lined up for Wildespool rugby league ground
The site of Warrington Wolves’ former Wilderspool ground is set to be transformed into a housing development.Warrington RLFC’s old Wilderspool Stadium, which closed in 2003, could make way for 160 homes for rent, with the £25m development to be named after the club’s all-conquering winger Brian Bevan.A planning application for Bevan Mews has been submitted by Wire Regeneration; a joint venture between developer Langtree and Warrington Borough Council.Biddle noted that ward councillors and residents have been informed of the proposals and that he hopes the scheme will secure planning permission early in 2019. Work would start shortly afterwards.
