Housing plans for factory site set for approval
Plans to develop more than 175 homes on the site of a steel construction products factory are set to get the green light from councillors (8 March 2017).Asbri Planning, on behalf of MC295 Ltd, has submitted an outline application for the Catnic factory site on Pontypandy Industrial Estate in Caerphilly.Under the proposals, the exiting building on the site, including an office building and manufacturing facility, will be demolished and replaced by a 176-home residential development.The scheme includes a mix of one-bed flats and two-, three- and four-bedroom house. It also includes provision for public open space, a multi-use games area, and parking.The redevelopment of the site is part of a relocation package between the landowner and Catnic owner Tata Steel to move the base to Duffryn Industrial Estate.The scheme is recommended for approval when it goes before Caerphilly County Borough Council’s planning committee on 8 March 2017.This is subject to the completion of a Section 106 agreement that would secure 5 per cent of the development for affordable housing, as well as the open space provision.
