Housing services in Walsall – Framework Lead
The current contract for Housing services in Walsall is projected to end on 4/5/2018 and may be available for re-tender.The current contract for Housing services in Walsall included Initially 30 (Thirty) units of Temporary Accommodation for Young People with the proviso to increase to up to 60 unitsTender comprising:Up to 5 units of self contained single bedroom flats. (Type 1);Up to 25 x 2 bedroom flats providing a total of 50 (Type 2).The council commissioned in October 2014 on an interim basis a range of dwellings from Walsall Housing Group (whg) to provide temporary accommodation for young people, 16 to 25 years of age. These units are dispersed across the borough and provide a range of 1 and 2 bedroom properties in differing settings. As at 18.11.2014 the council has commissioned up to 30 of these units. These are commissioned up to the start of this current tender opportunity (i.e. up to 26.3.2015).Our learning from this initial work with the young people, partners including whg has further shaped our thinking for this current specification and we are now seeking a commencement level of 30 units with and the opportunity to spot purchase more units from the successful bidder(s) as and when needed up to 60 units. The decision to spot purchase the additional units is the council’s.Bidders can bid for Type 1 or Type 2 or both but must be able to provide a minimum of 5 units of one of the Types for their bid to be valid.A key feature will be the flexibility that the provider(s) are able to offer. The Council will continue to do things differently to reduce homelessness and threat of homelessness for young people in the borough.Time PeriodFor an initial 12 month period from 26.3.2015 to 25.3.2016 with an option on the part of the Council to extend this by;a) an additional year and a further option on the part of the Council to extend this by;b) a final additional year.
