Hundreds of Northumberland homes to advance
Plans to build nearly 500 homes in a Northumberland town look set for approval. The reserved matters application proposes the creation of 480 homes on land to the south and south east of James Calvert Spence College on Acklington Road in Amble. The development already benefits from outline approval for no more than 500 dwellings, with at least 15 per cent affordable housing. If approved, the properties will comprise a mix of one to five bedrooms, with 72 affordable homes. They would include semi-detached, detached, bungalows and apartments, with 209 garage spaces and 956 allocated external car parking spaces.Communal cycle storage is also planned, as well as visitor parking and a children’s play area within the south-eastern part of the site. The proposal will go before Northumberland County Council’s Strategic Planning Committee on Tuesday 5 March with the recommendation for approval.
