Improved Maghera Public Realm Works Unveiled
An improved programme of public realm works in Maghera has been revealed.The £2.5 million scheme will see improvements delivered along Main Street, taking in parts of Coleraine Road, Station Road, Meeting House Avenue, Tirkane Road, Church Street, Glen Road, Hall Street, Bank Square and St Lurach’s Road.Improvements will include new paving, street lighting, planting and street furniture, as well as upgrades to address substandard footpath widths, poor pedestrian access and traffic flow issues. The scheme will also look to address vehicle congestion and queuing and substandard on-street parking in the narrow Main Street area of the town.These preliminary proposals will go on public display at an information session later this month.Mid Ulster District Council will host the event at Maghera Leisure Centre from 2pm-8pm on Wednesday 27 November. The designs will be on display at the leisure centre from Monday 11 November.These proposals have been identified following detailed traffic modelling including the creation of a one-way system where traffic flows in one direction north on part of upper Main Street.
