Plans have been lodged for the development of a new innovation hub at a live events industry campus in West Yorkshire.Production Park in South Kirby was established in 2015 and is currently home to more than 20 live event businesses, two studios and 200 students.Backstage Academy (Training) and Production Park, supported by Zerum and Enjoy Design, have submitted an application to Wakefield Council for the next phase of development at the facility.Planning permission is sought for the construction of a new innovation hub, along with areas of car parking and landscaping. The new facility would focus on research and development for the live events industry and its supply chain. Specialist equipment would be used to provide a support programme targeting SMEs across the live events industry, covering specialisms such as music, TV, film, sports, corporate events, theatre and arts.In November 2019, Production Park sold subsidiary Brilliant Stages, which has worked with clients including the Rolling Stone’s, Cirque Du Soleil, and the Dubai Mall, to US live technology business TAIT.
