Plans have been submitted for the regeneration of a Cardiff shopping parade alongside the development of 18 apartments.Silver Crescent Developments is seeking permission for proposals relating to land at 17-41 Clearwater Way, about 4km from Cardiff city centre. The job-creating plans, which represent a £4m investment, amount to the first major redevelopment of Lakeside Shopping Parade since it was built in the 1960s.The site is currently home to commercial uses at ground floor level, with flats on the floor above. In plans submitted by LRM Planning, wholesale design improvements are envisaged to the shop façades, while the proposals also include an extended covered walkway to improve the shopping environment. The applicant also seeks permission to add two further storeys to create space for the 18 apartments. The new apartments comprise of 12 two-bedroom flats and six three-bedroom flats. The development in its final form would rise to four storeys. An additional nine car parking spaces, including two wheelchair-accessible spaces, are proposed along the main road, rationalising the unmarked car parking provision currently available adjacent to the site. Residents’ car parking spaces are also provided.Subject to planning, it is hoped that work will start in June 2020 and complete within 12 months. As well as LRM, professionals working on the scheme include Pentan Architects, Calibro Transport Consultants and Roundfield Landscape Architects.
