Job-creating Aldi store set for thumbs up

A new job-creating Aldi store in Netherfield, Nottinghamshire, has been recommended for approval, with the applicant also seeking reserved matters approval for a number of other commercial uses.AC Lloyd Holdings has brought forward proposals to build the new store on land off Teal Close.The proposed store has a gross internal area of approximately 19,500 sq ft and external area of 20,000 sq ft.Car parking is located to the west of the store and comprises 104 spaces, including seven disabled bays, seven parent and child bays and four spaces served by electric charging points.The applicant has said that the development will create approximately 50 jobs.Additionally, AC Lloyd Holdings has brought forward a separate application for a number of other commercial uses at the site, which will also be reviewed by Gedling Borough Council’s planning committee on 12 April.The proposal, which has already been approved in outline, is for the construction of a public house, commercial/retail terrace and a children’s day nursery served off a single access road from Magenta way, which also serves the proposed Aldi foodstore.The public house would be located to the west of the site adjacent to the ColwickLoop Road and Magenta Way junction. The nursery would be to the eastern edge of the site with the retail terrace behind.This application has also been recommended for approval, subject to conditions.
