Job-creating commercial project set for approval
Proposals for a major commercial development anticipated to create more than 500 jobs in Nottinghamshire look set to be approved after the application was deferred from a previous planning committee meeting.Tritax and Simons Developments have brought forward outline plans to redevelop an approximately 41-acre parcel of land immediately to the south of the A17 and immediately adjacent to Newlink Business Park, Newark. The applicants are intending to provide a maximum employment floorspace of approximately 398,000 sq ft. The floorspace would be accommodated within one or two buildings designed for commercial storage or distribution. It is anticipated that the project would create 529 jobs upon completion, including roles in IT, engineering, warehouse operatives, HGV drivers and administration staff. The application was deferred from a planning committee meeting on the 5 October to enable the officers to push the agent for a named occupier.Since the report was presented, the applicant has provided further information, including a letter from the applicant, together with an executive summary, and a letter from Dixons Carphone.
