A masterplan to build thousands of homes, establish a business park, expand two existing schools and create new jobs looks set to be adopted by Hull City Council. The Kingswood Area Action Plan sets out development proposals for the next 15 years.Located on the northern edge of the city, Kingswood currently comprises a large residential site with retail outlets, a leisure facility, schools, a health centre and small shops.Planning permission for original development works at Kingswood was granted in 1994 and so far more than 3,300 homes have been built. However, more than half of the total number planned still remain to be built, while most of the business area still remains to be taken up.The action plan outlines proposals to develop five areas of Kingswood by 2030; Wawne View, Kingswood Centre, Riverbank, Wilberforce Wood and Bude Park.Hull City Council’s planning committee has been recommended to adopt the plan at its meeting on 19 July, with a report to councillors calling it a “key decision”.
