Job-creating roadside services centre set for council backing

Proposals for the development of a job-creating roadside services and recharge centre on agricultural land in Rutland look set to be backed by the council.Recharge Roadside Services Ltd is seeking the go-ahead to redevelop land at Duddington Way in Uppingham.Measuring approximately 2.7 acres, the application site lies north east of the roundabout junction of the A47 and A6003 and forms the west portion of a larger agricultural field used for grazing.Plans include a petrol filling station, comprising eight pumps, a canopy and an ancillary convenience store.A drive-thru coffee shop is also proposed, along with a total of 40 car parking spaces.Six electric vehicle charging points would be providing, with infrastructure laid out to enable the inclusion of more.The scheme would also safeguard an area of land for a future Hydrogen installation.It is anticipated that the project would create 15 to 20 jobs once operational.
