JPG Group working on Huddersfield leisure development
Civil and structural engineering company JPG Group is providing consultancy services on a new cinema and leisure complex development at Kingsgate Shopping Centre in Huddersfield.Kingsgate owner WD (Kingsgate) Ltd has confirmed plans start on site on the £7m scheme after agreeing a 25-year lease with cinema chain The Light.It intends to redevelop the existing House of Fraser store to provide two floors for leisure use, including a bowling alley, with bars and restaurants units at ground floor whilst a new upper level will be dedicated to the six-screen cinema attraction.JPG has reviewed plans for the site and assisted with feasibility and costings with a detailed design review which produced a significantly value engineered solution.Drawing on its team expertise in the bespoke needs for cinema installation, JPG assessed the existing Kingsgate building to validate support capabilities and consulted with specialist, NZA Acoustics to conclude deliverability.JPG is also working with quantity surveyors’ firm Richard Boothroyd Associates (RBA) and NU Construction on the project. The team is set to start construction on site in early 2022.
