Kent housing scheme set for nod

Plans to build more than 400 homes to the south east of Maidstone in Kent are set to get the green light.Bellway has earmarked a parcel of land to the west of Church Road in Otham for the scheme, with the site allocated for housing development of up to 440 properties under the local plan.Nearby historic buildings include The Rectory and Church House, which are both grade II-listed, as well as the grade I-listed St Nicholas’s Church.An application seeking full permission for 421 dwellings with associated access, landscaping and open space is set to go before Maidstone Borough Council’s planning committee today (28 May 2020) with a recommendation for approval.A separate outline application for up to 440 homes on the same site will also be considered at this week’s meeting. It was initially reported to the committee in October 2019, although a decision was deferred.
