Plans to knock down an existing key worker accommodation block in Oxford to make way for 125 residential units have been given the thumbs up by the city council.Under the proposals, existing buildings at Ivy Lane on Osler Road in Headington – on the John Radcliffe Hospital campus – would be demolished. They date back to the 1970s.In their place, 56 cluster flats would be constructed to provide 125 units comprising a mix of cluster flats, studios, one and two-bedroom units, along with ancillary and amenity spaces.The key worker housing would be spread across seven blocks rising to a maximum of five storeys.Approval is subject to a number of conditions.The news comes days after plans to knock down a pharmacy distribution centre in the city to make way for key worker housing were approved.The site adjacent to Randolph Court on Churchill Drive has been earmarked for two blocks of housing that would provide 19 cluster units.
