Keyland Developments consulting on commercial development plans
Keyland Developments has launched a public consultation on plans for a job-creating commercial development in West Yorkshire. The proposals for the 120,000 sq ft logistics warehouses follow the first phase of the site, which is now known as Interchange 26, and would create new employment space and provide job opportunities.Planning permission was secured in 2018 for a commercial development at the site and is now being brought forward as Interchange 26 by Opus North and Tungsten Developments. This land is allocated for development under the Kirklees Local Plan. The proposed development, which lies adjacent to the Interchange 26 site, would effectively be an extension to the consented scheme. Care has also been made to protect and enhance woodland and grassland across the site, increasing biodiversity.Highways England previously considered there to be need for major junction enhancements at Chain Bar- including a new flyover from the M62 to the M606 which would bypass the Chain Bar roundabout altogether. However, that highways improvement is no longer being pursued as it is not considered to offer the same benefits that were envisaged when the improvement was devised. That change removes a constraint which resulted in this area of the site allocation not being included in the 2018 approved development, and now allows development at this site to be considered on its own merits.A planning application is set to be submitted in due course, following analysis of all the feedback from the consultation process.
