Lancashire Cricket Club are progressing proposals to develop Emirates Old Trafford, while plans to create a Civic Quarter in Trafford have taken a step forward. The Civic Quarter Masterplan covers a 120-acre site taking in the Town Hall, the former Kellogg’s site, including the University Academy 92 campus, stretching up to the A56/Chester Road and White City retail park. The council’s plans for the area include building a leisure centre, an improved public realm, opportunities for new homes and offices, and improved cycle and pedestrian routes. A public piazza is also being lined up.Working alongside these proposals, LCC are looking to build a 4,850-seater stand to replace the existing Red Rose Suite. This would feature a pitch-view suite, enhanced members facilities, a heritage centre, ticket office and retail shop.It would take the capacity of Emirates Old Trafford to 26,700, making it the largest cricket ground outside of London. The Hilton Garden Inn hotel would also be extended on the back of its continued success. The UA92 establishment was an important first element to the development of the Civic Quarter. It opened in September.
