Lancaster housing scheme set to advance

Plans for a residential scheme in Lancaster look set to take a step forward next week, despite coming up against a number of objections.Oakmere Homes is behind the application, which is lined up for a site on Pathfinders Drive.The proposals went before Lancaster City Council’s planning committee in December but were deferred over a disagreement on the affordable housing provision.With an agreement now struck, it is back before the panel.Lined up for 53 homes – across three, four and five bedrooms – as well as a three-storey, eight-strong apartment block. The conversion of the grade II*-listed Derby Home into a further eight units is also proposed.To date, there have been 39 letters of objection from locals with concerns raised over highways, heritage and sustainability issues, among others.Two councillors, as well as the Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust, are also against the application.However, the scheme is set to be approved on 1 February.
