Land earmarked for almost 800 homes sold
A site earmarked for almost 800 homes on the outskirts of Birmingham city centre has been sold to a Midlands-based developer.The 22-acre site off Bristol Street on land formerly occupied by Matthew Boulton College has been sold to Barratt Homes.The land has been sold by Birmingham City Council and Homes England who were advised by Cushman & Wakefield.Planning permission was granted in March for the 778-home scheme which also features a 15-storey tower and 15 other buildings.The project also includes a ground floor commercial unit fronting Bristol Street.Work is set to start in the summer on 590 apartments and 188 houses.
