Landmark plans to transform Anfield community get green light

Residents in Anfield and Everton are celebrating after landmark community plans to revive homes in the area were given the go-ahead.Liverpool City Council has granted planning permission to Homebaked Community Land Trust to allow it to re-develop the Edwardian terrace of 9 properties as part of a dynamic, community scheme. Work is expected to begin on the block, which has Homebaked bakery on its corner, in the autumn.Homebaked Community Land Trust (CLT) will refurbish the buildings and transform them into eight modern homes, three new business units and an extension to the thriving Homebaked co-operative bakery.Key to their organisation is keeping land and buildings under community ownership, to protect homes and amenities from private developers out for a profit.Internal layouts will be amended to create different types of homes – from fully accessible apartments to traditional terraced houses.Special attention will be paid to insulation, energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions – part of what the CLT says is a local response to the global climate emergency.
