Legal services in Nottingham – Framework Lead
The current contract for Legal services in Nottingham is projected to end on 28/2/2018 and may be available for re-tender.The current contract for Legal services in Nottingham included a collaborative framework agreement for the provision of Legal Services. Currently in-house legal departments comprise (at Birmingham), five solicitors, one para-legal and three full-time secretaries. Legal Services currently deals with property work, reviewing and negotiating contracts, advice in connection with disciplinary matters, grievances, legislative compliance, charitable and educational law, employment law, intellectual property and in fact most areas of non-contentious work. Nottingham currently has a sole in-house lawyer, but there are plans to expand the in-house capacity and technical i.p and research contract expertise is already serviced from other departments. The purpose and primary objective of this Tender process is therefore to establish a panel of legal advisers/providers of legal services to be appointed to advise and/or represent the University. The Universities will determine the number of Service Providers to be appointed to advise and/or represent them; this may be a general appointment or it may be separate appointments for specific, specialist areas of law and practice. It is anticipated that the University will appoint a panel of Service Providers rather than a single source to fulfil all of its requirements and needs. It is anticipated that there will still be a need to source external legal advice and assistance outside of the panel in cases of specialist or niche advice and the in-house lawyers will continue to instruct barristers as necessary.
