List of Nuneaton transformation projects revealed
The projects which are set to transform Nuneaton thanks to £23m worth of government funding have been revealed.The schemes that have been approved and funded include the creation of a new Digital Skills and Innovation Centre, the creation of a George Eliot Visitor Centre, the restoration and repurposing of Saints community hub, upgrading the Weddington Cycle Link and the reimaging of the Nuneaton Museum and Art Gallery,Additionally, the funding will enable the creation of new and upgraded outdoor events spaces, an uplift in the number of electric vehicle charging points, the improvement to the pedestrian gateway access to the town from the train station and the installation of a dark fibre spine aiming to act as an enabler to stimulate private sector investment. This will assist existing businesses to exploit full fibre for 5G applications.The My Town Nuneaton board is made up of business representatives, Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Councillors, Warwickshire County Councillors and representatives from the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership, Warwickshire CAVA, the health sector and community.Nuneaton was one of 101 towns across the country that was selected to bid for funding from the government’s Towns Fund Initiative.
