Outline plans for a residential development in Oxford are set to be approved at a meeting next week, new documents have revealed.A former sportsground on William Morris Close has been earmarked for development by Cantay Estates Ltd.If approved, the land could be transformed into 86 homes across two three-storey blocks, four four-storey blocks and two sets of two and a half storey terraced houses.Initially, the applicant proposed 102 units, but this has been scaled back.It is the second time the scheme has gone before planners; it was on the agenda for a meeting on 31 July 2019 but a decision was deferred to allow the applicant to submit more information.Three past applications for residential development on the site were refused.Oxford City Council’s east area planning committee has recommended the proposals are approved ahead of a meeting on 6 November.Final approval is subject to a section 106 agreement to secure 50 per cent affordable housing and £600,000 towards sports provision in the local area.
