A major co-living scheme aiming to provide more than 100 apartments and new commercial space has been proposed in Birmingham.SAMA Investments is seeking the go-ahead from Birmingham City Council to demolish existing buildings at 255 Highgate Road to make way for the construction of a three to seven-storey structure providing residential and commercial uses.Until recently, the site was owned by BCC and is now vacant.The scheme comprises 100 co-living private-rented residential units (130 rooms), along with approximately 4,350 sq ft of amenity spaces and centralised management and 8,600 sq ft of ground floor retail/commercial floorspace.The ground floor would have two commercial units along with an SME incubator space and a co-working space.The development will provide one disabled parking space but otherwise will be car-free. However, 104 cycle parking spaces are provided.
