Major motorway services set for approval
Outline plans for a huge motorway service area in Warrington – including a 100-bed hotel – look set to advance next week. The proposals are earmarked for greenfield land to the north of the M62 alongside Junction 11.The application was submitted to Warrington Borough Council in 2019, with the site sitting near a boundary with Salford City Council.Extra MSA Group is behind the outline consent as it looks to establish the principle of the development, with a host of details reserved. However, it is known that a 100-bed hotel would be incorporated, alongside a fuel filling station for cars and HGVs with a retail outlet, on-site parking and external amenity space for visitors to the building. The application is going before Warrington Borough Council’s development committee on 9 June, with a recommendation for approval.
