Market and training centre plans for former trampoline park
A former trampoline park in the shadow of Bramall Lane in Sheffield could be redeveloped to create an indoor market and training centre under new plans.Tower Yard Three Ltd has submitted an application to Sheffield City Council for the redevelopment of a unit on John Street adjacent to the football ground. The site is currently occupied by a single-storey warehouse building, two-storey commercial building, and a car park. It was most recently occupied by a trampoline park.Planning permission is sought to convert the property into an indoor market, featuring 95 individual stalls at ground floor level, and a training centre for young people on the first floor. The commercial building would accommodate 13 market stalls, with 82 stalls in the warehouse, comprising 59 mini and 23 single stalls. The first floor would feature a training centre for young people run under the umbrella of the Community Integrated Care careers (CIC) programme.Three staff are proposed for the operation of the market, and a further three for the proposed training centre use.A planning statement submitted as part of the application highlighted potential benefits of the proposed development, including “creating opportunities for local people and small businesses to sell their produce and goods, which will resultantly lead to increased spending for the local economy”.It added that the training centre would create opportunities for young people, which would “resultantly lead to employment opportunities”.
