Merlin expands into Bristol with 100 new homes
Local housing association Merlin has announced a major boost to affordable housing in Bristol with a £13m investment to build almost 100 homes.A week after the Government announced its goal of building 400,000 new affordable homes by 2020, Merlin has just signed a deal with Barratt Homes for 65 homes being built on the site of the former St Matthias College in Fishponds. The deal comes as work on the housing association’s first Bristol development of 30 new homes at Weir House in Whitby Road has been completed.Of the 95 new affordable homes, 80 are for rent with 15 being available to part purchase through shared ownership.
