Midlothian housing association to deliver £2.4m in home upgrades

New kitchens, bathrooms, heating systems and replacement roofs are to be fitted in Melville Housing Association homes over the next 12 months thanks to investment of almost £2.4 million.The investment programme will see 186 new kitchens primarily fitted in homes in Mayfield and 90 new bathrooms, the majority of which will be fitted in Danderhall.A total of 80 new heating systems will be spread across all stock while 40 roofs will be replaced, primarily in Bilston and Mayfield.This latest phase in Melville’s home improvement programme means that over a five year period ending on 31 March 2020, more than 1,000 Melville homes will have had new kitchens fitted, representing over half of the Dalkeith-based housing association’s total stock.As well as kitchen upgrades, which will focus on Mayfield in Midlothian, this year’s investment will also pay for 90 new bathrooms, 80 new heating systems and 40 replacement roofs.Details of Melville’s 2019/20 planned maintenance programme are currently being finalised.
