Milestone for council housing development in Aberdeen
Construction work was under way today with the breaking of ground at a £30 million council housing development in Aberdeen.Ogilvie Construction is building 283 properties in Wellheads Road in Dyce for Aberdeen City Council.The site will include of a mix of one, two, three and four bedroom units across four buildings, each five storeys, with green open spaces, outdoor seating and children’s play areas.The Wellheads Road project will contribute to a target of 2,000 additional local authority homes in the city – the biggest council house building programme in Aberdeen in more than 50 years.In the last year 99 council homes were built at Smithfield and 80 at Manor Walk. Preparatory has started at the former Summerhill Academy site for 369 new homes and there are plans for more local authoritpropertiesat Tillydrone, Kincorth, Craighill and Greenferns.
