Milestone reached in £20m leisure centre construction
Construction of a new £20m leisure centre has reached a key milestone.The new Berwick leisure complex will feature a five-lane, 25 metre swimming pool, a teaching pool, leisure pool and spa facilities. It will also include a sports hall, indoor bowls, fitness studios, cafe and a sensory room.There will also be a 3G full-size playing pitch, playpark and trim trail and parking for 175 cars.The first steelwork is about to be put in place at the development.The project been designed by Newcastle-based GT3 Architects, which has also recently secured planning permission for a £21m mixed-use leisure scheme at Morpeth.Both projects are funded and led by Northumberland County Council.
