MoD offices get green light
An office building in Whittington Heath which will have room for 438 full-time equivalent MoD employees has been approved. London-based consultancy and construction firm Mace Group has worked on the project.The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) has secured permission from Lichfield District Council for a new two/three-storey office building and 230-space car park at Whittington Barracks in Tamford Road.The application also called for the demolition of buildings six and nine on the site.The new office will accommodate the relocation of the DIO from a site in Sutton Coldfield.The council’s planning committee approved the application at a meeting on Monday 30 September.
