Modified plans for stadium set for approval

Modified plans for Swindon’s Abbey Stadium, which hosts speedway and greyhound racing, are set for approval.The plans, submitted by George Edwards of Abbey Stadium, include a number of changes to previously approved plans, including the relocation of the stadium building, modifications to the racing facilities for speedway and greyhound racing as well as modifications to the proposed acoustic barrier, car parking layout and open space.According to the recommendation, if councillors back the decision to approve the scheme, the Section 106 agreement must be signed by 30 November 2019, with a recommendation that no additional housing is to be developed until the new stadium is operational and substantially complete.As well as the stadium, the outline permission also included permission for a number of housing projects.Swindon Borough Council’s planning committee meets on 8 October.
