More than 100 homes given go-ahead

A residential development aiming to provide more than 100 homes to a site in County Durham has been given the go-ahead following an appeal.Outline planning permission has been granted for plans to the north east of Castledene Road on Delves Lane in Consett. The approval allows for 105 new homes, associated infrastructure and open space.National consultants Pegasus Group secured the consent on behalf of Gleeson Regeneration and Chan Commercial.The scheme is set to include a mixture of two, three and four-bedroom properties, with 10 per cent allocated as affordable housing.As part of the application, more than £200,000 will also be invested by the developer in healthcare and improving recreational provision in the area.The council’s requests for £700,000 funding for additional teaching facilities was rejected by the Inspector on the basis that reasonable surplus teaching capacity already exists.
