Multimillion-pound science innovation and research centre unveiled
Multimillion-pound plans for a science innovation and research centre on the Isle of Man have been revealed, creating new jobs.Peel NRE’s proposals also include a sustainable energy park and medicinal cannabis facility on land at Cooil Road, Braddan. The proposals, which follow a recent change in the legislation of cannabis production and exportation on the Isle of Man, would bring inward investment to the Island. The scheme would create a once in a generation opportunity for the Island to become a leader in the emerging medicinal cannabis sector.Peel NRE’s planning application will include detail for the first phase of the development, including two units for the cultivation facility. An access road, engineering works and preliminary landscaping are also included.A public consultation now has been launched to shape the plans before an application goes to the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture later this year. Located at the corner of Cooil Road and the A5 (New Castletown Road), the flagship development will create new, high quality technical jobs.
