NATIONAL RAIL COLLEGE PLANS SET FOR GREEN LIGHT
A planning application for Birmingham’s National College for High Speed Rail is set to be approved by the city council next week, paving the way for the next generation of industry engineers to be trained in the city.Birmingham was named as the college’s headquarters by the government in September 2014 alongside an additional site in Doncaster.They will train the workers needed to build HS2 along with other significant infrastructure projects in the future.Proposals for the Birmingham site, which will be located off Dartmouth Middleway and Lister Street, were unveiled at a public consultation in November 2015 and submitted to the city council later that month.The building will be spread across three floors with a gross internal floorspace of 54,605 sq ft. It will accommodate more than 700 students.
