Network Rail nears completion of £5m Milngavie Station project
Network Rail is nearing completion of a £5 million project to extend platforms at Milngavie Station.The work, carried out over three weekends, saw contractor AmcoGiffen, and the rail management firm’s project team, install a new 4m-tall twin-track stanchion to support new overhead line equipment at the remodelled station, as well as new precast platform sections onto the 24-steel foundations laid to support the extended infrastructure.Network Rail said work will be fully completed in December, with the station’s platforms having been lengthened from 141m to 205m. The firm added that extending the platforms will enable the ‘stabling’ of trains at Milngavie Station – allowing for more time between arrivals and departures.
