New £14.3 primary school for East Calder gets green light
Proposals to build a new £14.3 million primary school in East Calder have been approved by West Lothian Council.The approval of the layout, design and final cost for the non-denominational school were approved by the council executive this week.The new school will be fully funded by developer contributions from the nearby Calderwood development, and will provide education for up to 462 primary and 128 nursery pupils.The design of the new school incorporates elements of the award-winning West Calder High School, and is designed to be sustainable and suitable. It has been developed as an anchor landmark for the Calderwood development in conjunction with the local community and Stirling Developments.
