New coastal hub approved
Plans for a new coastal hub in County Durham have been given approval. The Heritage Coast Partnership is seeking planning permission for the construction of a single-storey building, located immediately to the south of Crimdon Castle Dene Holiday Park. The new destination comprises a café, staff facilities, public toilets and baby change facilities. The proposal also includes a small ancillary building which would house bin and fuel stores, along with a heat pump.Occupying a corner position at the existing access road from the A1086, the plans include the provision of two in-curtilage car parking spaces.Once completed, the scheme will create 2 full-time employment positions. The Crimdon Castle Dene Holiday Park is currently unoccupied and hosts a variety of scrub vegetation.A delegated report for Durham County Council recommended that the plans be approved. The scheme has now secured the green light, subject to conditions.
