New discount supermarket to create 40 jobs

A new discount supermarket is set to be built as part of a £150m urban village between Bradford and Shipley, creating 40 jobs.Construction of the 18,300 sq ft Aldi store at Bolton Woods is expected to begin this summer.As part of this phase of the development, located between Stanley Road and Canal road, a further 10,000 sq ft retail unit will also be developed next to Aldi. This is currently being marketed by specialist commercial agency Lamb & Swift.Aldi is the second major retail occupier to be announced for the New Bolton Woods project, following Costa Coffee signing up last year for a new drive-through unit on the scheme. Construction of the Costa building is currently underway, with the opening expected in April.In a separate area of the site, Keepmoat Homes is currently developing Phase 3 of the housing element of the scheme, comprising a further 145 dwellings.The Bolton Woods project is being led by Canal Road Urban Village Ltd, a joint venture company established by developer Urbo Regeneration and Bradford Council. Fifty new homes have already been built and CRUVL, partnering with housebuilder Keepmoat, is currently building another 150.
